MALEA is no stranger to the stage. Her credits include performances in theatre, film, television and radio. She had the opportunity to act in several independent films and was a featured dancer and actor in the 20th Century Fox film “Men of Honor” starring Robert De Niro and Cuba Gooding, Jr., and the Lifetime film “Take My Advice: the Ann & Abby Story" staring Wendy Malick.
Influenced at an early age by her mother, who was a singer and dancer, Malea knew then that the music and lyrics her mother shared weaved captivating stories that she wanted to be a part of, and that being on stage was exactly where she needed and wanted to be. Despite a few detours along the way, Malea started her journey singing, dancing and acting in musical theatre, television and movies. It was during this “journey” that she had the opportunity to work and meet some incredibly talented and professional entertainers whom were gracious enough to share their abilities, and encourage her to continue on this wonderful journey.
In 2005, Malea collaborated with Craig Bidondo and released her debut album "If You Really Knew Me" which showcased a wide range of styles ranging from Cole Porter, Bette Midler, Tina Turner, Van Morrison, Marvin Hamlisch, Irving Berlin, Anita Baker, Jim Brickman, Antonia Carlos Jobim & Carol Bayer Sager. Now in 2018, Malea continues to perform as a solo artist, actor, entertainer and with her band “Malea & the Tourists”, which is recognized as one of the top variety bands in the state today. The group features some of the northwest’s most dynamic musicians, and has a repertoire that spans all ages and genre preferences. In June of 2016 Malea & the Tourists released their album "Bring Me Sunshine” which features Malea on lead vocals, Kit Taylor on piano and vocals, Steve Morgan on bass and backing vocals, Steve Turmell on drums and backing vocals, and Eric Austin on saxophone, clarinet, and backing vocals.
